In this two half-day virtual workshop we provide an overview and an update of Professional Indemnity insurance from an underwriting perspective.
We discuss which businesses need professional indemnity coverage and how it fits with other liability coverages. We also examine the risks and policy coverage offered to different professionals including construction professionals (including design and build contractors) accountants and bookkeepers, IT consultants, marketing and media, insurance brokers and management consultants.
Workshop objectives
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Describe what types of organisation have a professional liability exposure and require professional indemnity insurance
- Outline recent examples of professional indemnity claims
- Describe the principal reasons why professionals or service companies should buy professional indemnity insurance
- Explain the coverage provided by a professional indemnity insurance policy
- Explain how professional indemnity coverage fits with other liability coverages and identify areas where there may be an overlap in cover
- Outline the principal underwriting and pricing considerations which apply to professional indemnity insurance particularly focussing on
- Outline recent changes in the professional indemnity insurance market
- Explain the important points to remember when dealing with a professional indemnity claim

Method of Delivery
This workshop will be delivered online with a trainer via Microsoft Teams, over two half-day sessions, on 14 & 21 January, 09:30 - 12:30 (UK). Delegates must ensure they have access to Teams to join the session.
Certificate
At the end of this course, you will receive a certificate of attendance from the Chartered Insurance Institute.
