Q. I do not agree with the award given. Is it possible to lodge an appeal?
A. There is a process for challenging recognition of prior learning application outcomes. Please read Request to Reconsider Recognition of Prior Learning Outcome procedure and the CII Complaints Process and for more information.
Q. I have made an application for recognition of prior learning and have a follow-up enquiry. How should I get in touch?
A. We have identified the most common enquiries and addressed them within these FAQs. If you don't find the answer please email customer.serv@cii.co.uk, including your full name, CII PIN, date of birth, the date you made your application, your full qualification title (eg degree or professional body qualification) and awarding organisation. We will acknowledge your enquiry and provide an estimate of the timeframe to respond.
Alternatively, you may wish to speak with one of our team of advisors on 020 8989 8464 (+44 20 8989 8464 from outside the UK) or via web chat.
Q. The CII sent me an RPL offer a long time ago; however, I didn't claim it. Am I eligible to claim it now?
A. If you did not claim the offer within the 30-day period, the offer will have lapsed and you would need to make a new application. Each application is judged on its merits and any new prior learning award offer would be based on the match to the current CII qualifications and subject to the recognition of prior learning scheme rules in place at the time of the new application. This means the potential award may have changed or you are no longer eligible for an award. Please refer to the Exemptions Search for an up-to-date indication of your eligibility.
Q. CII has modified or withdrawn my prior learning credits. This has impacted me financially. What recourse do I have?
A. At its sole discretion the Chartered Insurance Institute reserves the right to make, amend and or withdraw credit awards at any time, on due notice as it sees fit and without monetary compensation. Under no circumstances will the Chartered Insurance Institute accept any liability for consequential indirect or special losses or special damages of any kind arising out of or in any way connected with the awarding or withdrawal of credit awards.
