Course Summary

This is an entry-level qualification into financial services administration. The financial advice market consists of around 19,000 SME businesses that, due to recent changes, need more administrative support to provide an efficient, high-quality, and compliant service to their clients. This apprenticeship covers the skills needed to fulfil this support role. It is also an ideal entry point for a career in the sector, with progression routes to several roles with full professional qualifications.

Who is it for?

Those looking to start a career in the financial advice sector, or to progress from a lower-level role or apprenticeship.

What will they learn?

In one compulsory unit, the apprentice will cover the financial services sector and its regulation and ethics. This includes: financial services and customer requirements; investments and loan repayments; the UK financial industry and the role of government; legal principles, UK taxation and state benefits; financial services and legislation; FCA rules and measures.

For the other unit, the apprentice can choose to study either office administration or pensions administration. Both options cover the key product types, and the principles and processes involved in their effective and compliant administration.

What's next?

This apprenticeship is a good route into a career in the mortgage advice sector, or for potential progression into other financial services roles. Having completed the Certificate, CII members who are also members of the CII’s Society of Mortgage Professionals can use the designation Cert CII (MP). (They will need to meet continuing professional development requirements.)

Assessment

During the course (‘on-programme’) and at the end (‘end-point assessment’). Studying towards this qualification also involves off-the-job training and maintaining a training file in line with the employer’s performance management process.
